Yari, however, urged the residents of the state to support the current government even though it is headed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Yari, who spoke in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune, said he had thought he would hand over government to a person who understands the political journey and could continue from where he would stop. a letter from our Editor-in-Chief Bayo Olupohunda “Unfortunately, that was not how God designed it to be,” he said. Yari, whose administration ended on May 29, 2019, also said he left some projects uncompleted. “I left behind a number of projects I had wanted to accomplish such as the state-owned university. I wanted the university project to reach between 60 or 70% completion stage so that my successor will complete it,” he said. He also mentioned the Anka-Bagega road project as among those he wanted to complete before leaving the office. He said he could not because of financial issues. Yari said his administration took over more than 480 different projects uncompleted. According to him, some of these uncompleted projects were at the level of between 20 and 30%. “When my tenure was coming to an end, I was hoping to hand over to a person that would ensure continuity,” he said. The former governor, who also lost a senatorial seat, noted that his administration inherited insecurity, which he wished he tackled before leaving the office. “I know that many lives were lost and properties were destroyed due to the insecurity. “So, I identified persistent insecurity in the state as one of the things I was unable to tackle, despite the huge funds invested by my administration,” he lamented.
